Job summary

Amtrak is seeking a Superintendent Mechanical II in Los Angeles to oversee car and locomotive shops, repair-in-place tracks, and service terminals. You will supervise mechanical operations, coordinate with internal teams and external partners, and ensure compliance with maintenance alerts and regulatory requirements.

This role demands proven leadership and program management in rail service settings. The position emphasizes budget adherence, process improvements, and safety program oversight

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
• Plus 11 years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of railway or rail transit rolling stock or transportation to include extensive servicing, repair and maintenance program experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, development, and management of resources for inspection and mechanical service activities from conceptual design to project close-out, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate inspection and mechanical service activities with internal stakeholders and external organizations.
• Ensure strict compliance with maintenance alerts, regulatory requirements, and supplier instructions.
• Implement process improvements to enhance inspection and servicing across extended areas.
• Monitor productivity, making procedural adjustments as needed, and oversees safety plans and programs for inspection and mechanical services.
