Job summary

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects, seeks a Rail Project Manager to lead freight rail, track, terminal, intermodal, and related civil infrastructure projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and project controls from concept through construction support.

This client-focused seller-doer role requires a PE, 10+ years of rail experience, leadership, and the ability to win work and mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer license.
• 10+ years of rail/related civil infrastructure experience.
• Experience as PM or deputy PM on rail/ transportation projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
• Familiarity with AREMA, FRA, DOT criteria and design standards.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
• Familiarity with MicroStation, OpenRail Designer, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and delivery of freight rail and related projects.
• Define and manage scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing, and execution strategies.
• Serve as primary contact for railroads, agencies, and clients.
• Oversee development of reports, design plans, criteria, estimates, and schedules.
• Provide QC oversight and ensure compliance with standards.
• Coordinate field assessments, site visits, and construction support.
• Mentor engineers, EITs, designers, and junior staff.
• Support proposals, scope/fee preparation, and business development.
