Top Prospect Group is seeking a Field Technician in Staten Island, NY, to perform electrical and mechanical testing on rail cars, troubleshoot issues, and support commissioning and warranty sites. The role requires reading diagrams and using test equipment in a rail-yard environment.

You will work with limited supervision, document test results, interact with customers, and may travel for field assignments.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical or mechanical testing is required.
• Reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings is necessary.
• Proficient with basic hand tools and power tools.
• Willing to travel for business trips or field assignments.
• Ability to lead tasks and support technicians.
• Excellent communication with customers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of work on rail cars being processed through the New Haven Rail Yard and Commissioning Warranty Sites, including electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and other duties as requested by the supervisor.
• Work on rail cars in the final assembly process at the New Haven facility or at remote sites.
• Use standard hand tools and perform basic troubleshooting using multi-meters and PC-based test equipment.
• Read piping diagrams, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and electrical schematics to accomplish job assignments.
• Perform test procedures on various systems including HVAC, Brakes, Propulsion, Communications, Toilet, Trainline, Sign, and other systems; conduct functional and leakage tests.
• Occasionally assist and support the engineering group with tests and interact with customers, communicating clearly regarding assignments.
