Job summary

King County Metro Transit's Rail Division is seeking a Rail Electrical Worker Crew Chief to supervise journey-level workers and oversee troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of rail electrical systems. The role emphasizes safety culture, effective communication, and problem solving to ensure reliable transit service.

The incumbent will coordinate daily workflows, train staff, respond to emergencies, and ensure compliance with electrical codes.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience as a Rail Electrical Worker and two (2) years of experience supervising electrical workers.
  • Knowledge of safety techniques and procedures for maintenance and repair sites.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Effective written and verbal communication aligned with Metro’s values.
  • Understanding blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, high voltage work and industrial controls.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and evaluate work of journey-level workers and subordinates.
  • Direct and supervise erection, maintenance, and repair of Rail electrical systems.
  • Control and monitor workflow; ensure adherence to maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare requisitions for tools, materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Prepare reports on repair work and materials used.
  • Coordinate safety training for staff and related personnel.
  • Respond to emergency repair calls during hours as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff, contractors, and other jurisdictions.
  • Train Rail electrical workers and subordinate staff.
