Job summary

King County Metro Transit is seeking dependable Rail Electro-Mechanics to perform journey-level electrical and mechanical maintenance on light rail vehicles and related equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and overhaul electronic and mechanical systems and support communication and surveillance gear.

The role requires safety-conscious work, ability to work various shifts, and readiness to obtain necessary certifications; you will work across multiple rail facilities in King County, WA.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of journey-level experience in trade with electrical and mechanical maintenance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a WA Class B with air brake endorsement or able to obtain within 6 months.
  • Ability to obtain Light Rail Vehicle/Streetcar Yard Operator Certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, test, maintain, repair, and overhaul electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems and equipment on light rail vehicles.
  • Conduct safety and preventive maintenance inspections and document defects and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components and interfaces across systems.
  • Operate and maintain shop equipment and tools; manage time and material cost estimates.
  • Re-rail trains and recover vehicles from accidents when needed.
  • Install electronic testing systems, service microprocessor controls, and calibrate test equipment.
  • Inspect, test, and overhaul subsystems; maintain inventory records and computer logs.
