Job summary

HDR is seeking a Rail Design EIT/Coordinator in the United States (Missouri - Kansas City) to support track and civil design efforts within the Transportation Business Group. You will collaborate with project managers and engineers to produce design plans, cost estimates, and project controls for rail projects.

This role emphasizes hands-on design work using MicroStation, InRoads, and GEOPAK, with a focus on contributing to both freight and transit rail initiatives while aligning with HDR's

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with MicroStation, InRoads and GEOPAK-route design.
  • Active participation in our employee-owned culture is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Support Rail Project Managers and Engineers to develop track and civil design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Take responsibility for civil and track engineering assignments, including drainage, structural and utilities tasks.
  • Develop design criteria, project guides, project meeting notes, and project controls while supporting Project Manager.
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects.
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.

In the role of Rail Design EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to:

  • Support Rail Project Managers and Engineers to develop track and civil design plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Take responsibility for civil and track engineering assignments, including drainage, structural and utilities tasks
  • Develop design criteria, project guides, project meeting notes, and project controls while supporting Project Manager
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Prefer basic knowledge of InRoads/InRail, OpenRail Designer, and/or Civil3D
  • Interest in working with the rail industry, both freight and transit
Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with MicroStation, InRoads and GEOPAK-route design
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
