Job summary

Watco Transloading is seeking a conductor/engineer to control and coordinate train movements while switching railcars at onsite locations such as yards, industrial plants, or terminals. This is an hourly, full-time position requiring safe, efficient handling of loading and unloading railcars in service to customers.

The role emphasizes manual labor with training provided. Candidates should be able to read switching orders, understand signals, and work with a team in a fast-paced rail environment

Qualifications

• Ability to pass training and required testing.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate predictable, reliable attendance.
• Follow directions and complete tasks on schedule.
• Read, write, and communicate in English; basic math.
• Learn from directions, observations and mistakes and apply procedures.
• Read switching orders and supervise train crews.
• Observe signals and operate locomotive per railroad rules and regulations.
• Maintain records of cars switched and cargo details.
• Coordinate with dispatchers and yard workers via radio for switching information.
• Assist with switching operations and coupling/uncoupling of cars.
