Job summary

Mendocino Railway is hiring Conductor or Engineer to operate trains safely and professionally in Fort Bragg, CA. Roles include guest-facing service and adherence to FRA regulations. Full-time and part-time positions available, with evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Qualified candidates must hold FRA Locomotive Engineer or Conductor certification, be fluent in English, and demonstrate strong safety and teamwork. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Qualifications

Must currently hold FRA Locomotive Engineer certification (49 CFR Part 240) and/or FRA Conductor certification (49 CFR Part 242).
Ability to receive, understand, and follow verbal and written English instructions.
Strong problem-solving, situational awareness, and adherence to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Operate locomotives and trains safely per FRA regulations and company rules.
Coordinate with dispatchers and senior crew for safe passenger movement.
Maintain awareness of train location, signals, and potential hazards during shifts.
Communicate clearly with passengers, crew, and supervisors; ensure onboard safety.
Perform pre-departure inspections and safety checks; report defects.
