Mendocino Railway is hiring qualified Conductor or Train Engineer staff in Fort Bragg, California. The roles require FRA Engineer and/or Conductor certification and involve safe operation of trains, adherence to regulations, and professional passenger interaction.

Both full-time and part-time positions are available, with shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays. The job emphasizes safety, situational awareness, and teamwork within a dynamic railroad environment.

Qualifications

• Must currently hold FRA Locomotive Engineer and/or Conductor certification, in good standing.
• Ability to read and follow verbal and written English instructions.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate locomotives and trains following certification, FRA regulations and company rules.
• Communicate with senior crew, dispatchers and management to move trains safely.
• Maintain awareness of train location, speed, signals, track conditions and safety procedures.
• Observe signals and report unsafe conditions or incidents per procedures.
• Complete required inspections, tests and safety checks prior to movement.
• Interacting with passengers and guests to provide a welcoming onboard experience.
