Job summary

Mendocino Railway in Fort Bragg, California, is hiring full-time Conductor roles to safely operate passenger and freight trains. As a Conductor, you will ensure the safe, professional movement of trains, comply with FRA regulations and company safety standards, and work closely with senior crew, dispatchers, and maintenance teams.

This role requires FRA Conductor certification and strong situational awareness.

Qualifications

Must currently hold FRA Conductor certification (49 CFR Part 242).
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
Strong problem-solving, teamwork and safety awareness.
Capable of working in a safety-sensitive, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Operate trains safely and professionally in accordance with FRA rules and company procedures.
Coordinate with senior crew, dispatchers and maintenance personnel as needed.
Monitor train movement, signals, and track conditions; report issues promptly.
Conduct pre-departure safety checks and rote inspections; ensure compliance with safety standards.
Communicate clearly with passengers and crew using radios and other devices.
