Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking qualified conductors in Canton, OH to join a safety-forward, on-call team responsible for building and inspecting trains, operating remote control locomotives, and coordinating with crews and dispatchers.

You’ll undergo extensive training and must obtain union affiliation within 60 days after training. Competitive compensation includes a training minimum of $240 per shift with overtime, first-year conductor averages around $70,000 and experienced conductors

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
• Must be available to work on-call, 24/7, with as little as 90 minutes’ notice.
• Must pass pre-employment FRA drug and alcohol screening.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and perform tasks such as coupling, aligning drawbars, applying hand brakes, and riding railcars.
• Communicate effectively with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all FRA and company safety regulations.
