Job summary

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is seeking Rail Car Technicians to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Siemens Light Rail Vehicles. The role covers day, evening, and night shifts across two maintenance shops, with emphasis on safety and reliability for daily revenue service.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting propulsion, braking, HVAC, doors, and power systems, responding to incidents, and conducting testing on new vehicles while adhering to CATS and regulatory safety

Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent with 3 years relevant work experience.
Associate’s degree with 1 year relevant experience acceptable; or equivalent mix of education and experience.
Background checks and pre-employment drug screen required; safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Siemens Light Rail Vehicles.
Work across day, evening, and night shifts; support rail, streetcar, and wayside operations.
Troubleshoot and repair propulsion, braking, HVAC, doors, power, pneumatics, hydraulics and related systems.
Respond to rail system emergencies to restore service and support safe operations.
Assist with acceptance testing and pre-service testing of new rail vehicles; follow all safety policies.
