Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) is seeking a Rail Car Mechanic to keep freight moving safely and efficiently. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on rail cars, with hands-on training including a 4-week welding course designed for the railroad industry.

This role suits mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy problem‑solving and outdoor teamwork. You will work in a high-production environment, with shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years' experience working on or around heavy equipment.
• Valid driver's license.
• Commercial driver's license preferred.
• Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions.
• Able to read and understand safety instructions in English.
• Dedication to safety and ability to follow guidelines.
• Strong communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform expert repairs and maintenance on freight car equipment, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections on trucks, under-frame, brakes, and safety systems.
• Respond to urgent repairs including road work and service operations to keep rail moving.
• Use welding, torch cutting, and power tools to complete complex repairs in various environments.
