Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Rail Bridge EIT/Designer to join our transportation team in Atlanta. You will work under a Professional Engineer to design bridges, retaining walls, and related structures for freight rail projects, with opportunities to grow toward licensure.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree, an EIT or eligibility to obtain one, and experience with major structural design software. Collaboration with project teams and occasional travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain EIT; may start as Rail Bridge Designer if not yet certified.
• Proficiency with structural design software packages (LEAP, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridge).
• Experience with OpenBridge Modeler and Autodesk Civil/InfraWorks; familiarity with Bluebeam Revu.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; willingness to travel for field assignments and project walkthroughs.

Responsibilities

• Apply structural engineering techniques for design of bridges, structures, retaining walls for freight railroad clients.
• Assist Professional Engineer with checking drawings, calculations, material lists, quantities, and construction submittals.
• Participate in rail bridges and structures assessments and develop deliverables like calculations and design plans.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers and Managers to gain experience toward licensure.
• Interact with clients and rail industry professionals as needed.
