Job summary

The Travis County Sheriff is seeking an X-Ray Technician to perform radiographic imaging, verify orders, position patients, and protect patients from unnecessary radiation. You will work with physicians and radiologists to ensure high-quality images.

Requirements include an Associate’s degree in radiologic technology, ARRT eligibility, Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist certification, and ability to lift up to 35-100 pounds as needed. Work hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, location Austin, Texas.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in radiologic technology with 2 years of x-ray experience
• ARRT eligible and Texas licensure as Medical Radiologic Technologist
• Resume required with online application

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and physician orders before imaging.
• Position patients to obtain high-quality radiographs.
• Explain procedures to patients and answer questions.
• Limit radiation exposure with lead shielding.
• Maintain records of completed procedures.
• Ensure equipment is serviced and functioning.
• Assist radiologist with additional tests as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
