Qualifications

Description:The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients during a designated timeframe.The role involves providing care specifically in the Heart & Vascular Institute.The patient population consists of individuals requiring invasive cardiology or invasive radiology studies.The technologist assists the physician in all procedures and offers valuable service to both the patient and the medical team.Responsibilities include administering contrast material according to the physician's request through existing vascular access points.The technologist must recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.All functions and duties will be performed under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist.Additional tasks involve assisting with inventory and supplies.Accurate checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position are essential.The role requires compiling pertinent clinical information related to labs and pathology.The technologist is also responsible for instructing new staff as necessary.Documentation must be accurate and complete, adhering to established policies and procedures.It is important to explain procedures to patients while ensuring their comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.All essential functions of the Radiologic Technologist must be performed.On-call duties and variable shifts may be assigned to meet departmental needs.The technologist must be able to maintain a sterile field during procedures.They will administer and withhold contrast and treatment as appropriate.Patient assessments for allergies are required.Technologists can pull supplies for procedures.Call duties are expected within six months.Key responsibilities include cardiac cath lab work, such as left heart catheterizations, coronary stenting, right heart catheterizations, pericardiocentesis, and vascular access under sterile procedures.The role also includes structural heart procedures like TAVR, Watchman, Mitraclip, Triclip, ASD/PFO, and CardioMEMS.Hybrid peripheral vascular work is to be conducted in coordination with vascular surgery, including EVAR, TCAR, and TEVAR.Adjunctive tools for completing these procedures may include ICUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Laser, Rota, Impella, IABP, OCT, and CTO.
