Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

A Radiology Technologist (Rad Tech) in a Cardiac Cath Lab operates advanced imaging equipment and assists interventional cardiologists during diagnostic and therapeutic heart procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Operation: Control high-level radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging systems to capture real-time visualizations of coronary arteries and blood vessels.
• Procedure Assistance: Scrub in to assist at the sterile field, pass instruments, and manage sterile trays, or circulate in the room to handle non-sterile tasks.
• Patient Monitoring: Track patient vital signs, assist with hemodynamic monitoring, and prepare patients by placing EKG leads, blood pressure cuffs, and defibrillator pads.
• Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict radiation safety protocols (wearing lead aprons/shields) and keep the lab sterile, well-stocked, and fully prepped for emergency interventions.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited school/program.

• Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
• Post-primary certification in Cardiac Interventional Radiography, Vascular-Interventional Technology (VI), or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
