Responsabilités

• Confirm patient identity.
• Explain and confirm patient preparation prior to radiographic/fluoroscopic exams.
• Examine radiographic requisitions for accuracy and completeness.
• Sequence imaging procedures to avoid residual contrast affecting future exams.
• Be responsible for medical equipment attached to patients during procedures.
• Provide for patient safety, comfort and modesty.
• Communicate scheduling delays to waiting patients.
• Verify or obtain patient consent as necessary.
• Explain procedure instructions to patient or family.
• Practice standard precautions.
• Follow procedures when in contact with isolated patients.
• Select immobilization devices to ensure patient safety.
• Use proper body mechanics and transfer devices.
• Gather information before contrast administration to determine dosage and risk of adverse reaction.
• Confirm type of contrast media and prepare for administration.
• Use sterile technique and prepare for administration.
• Observe patient after contrast administration for adverse reactions.
• Recognize need for prompt medical attention and provide emergency care.
• Explain post-procedural instructions to patient or family.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Document required information on medical records.
• Quality assure exams for technical and room time.
• Perform work of equal skill as directed, and prepare for higher responsibility.
• Clean, disinfect or sterilize facilities and equipment.
• Evaluate use of protective shielding.
• Minimize radiation exposure to patient.
• Question female patients about possible pregnancy and take appropriate action.
• Restrict beam to limit exposure area and improve image quality.
• Set exposure factors to achieve optimum image quality and minimum dose.
• Prevent access to area during x-ray exposure.
• Minimize occupational exposure.
• Wear personnel monitoring device and evaluate exposure reports.
• Prepare and operate radiographic, fluoroscopy and digital imaging devices.
• Verify patient identification on radiographs and evaluate image quality.
• Determine corrective measures if image quality is inadequate.
• Store and handle film/cassette to reduce artifacts.
• Recognize malfunctions and report them.
• Perform basic evaluations of radiographic equipment and accessories.
• Maintain a culture of safety.
• Verify patient, procedure, site and information before invasive procedures.
• Follow documented orders and proper hand hygiene.
• Adhere to universal precautions.
• Disposal of hazardous materials.
• Adhere to electrical safety guidelines.
