Job summary

MUSC Community Physicians is seeking a PRN Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic examinations using X-ray equipment and to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring patient conditions. The role requires operating portable x-ray devices and ensuring equipment is properly maintained.

The position emphasizes adherence to safety standards, proper patient positioning, and efficient workflow within the Florence administration area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of accredited radiology program, usually a two-year associate degree in radiology.
• Radiographer certification (ARRT) required by ARRT

Responsibilities

• Perform radiographic examinations.
• Utilize portable x-ray equipment.
• Check equipment, supplies and accessories regularly.
• Maintain x-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; perform preventive maintenance; arrange outside service for major malfunctions.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area; monitor supplies and restock as needed.
• Assist with lifting and transporting patients as required

Job Description

• Perform medical exams using X-rays on patients to create images of specific parts of the body. The images are then interpreted by a doctor for diagnosis and monitoring of disease.

Duties include:

• Ability to utilize portable x-ray equipment
• Performs radiographic examinations.
• Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
• Maintains x-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventive maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
• Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work area, requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
• Performs other miscellaneous and related duties as required including lifting and transporting patients

Minimum Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of an accredited radiology program, usually a two-year associate degree in radiology.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

• Radiographer certification (ARRT) such as the one offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted. Ability to lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs. Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. Examples include: To transfer a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force are needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force are required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. Ability to match or discriminate between colors. Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to work in a latex safe environment. Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions. Ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
