Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile technique and assist in scrub/circulate roles.
• Provide direct patient care, monitor vitals, and enforce ALARA radiation safety.
• Document procedural data and contrast usage in EMR/PACS, manage inventory.

An Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians with complex, minimally invasive image-guided procedures by operating advanced fluoroscopic equipment, maintaining sterile fields, and providing direct patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate real-time imaging systems like C-arms and fluoroscopy units.
• Sterile Technique: Prepare sterile trays, maintain a clean procedural field, and scrub in or circulate during operations.
• Patient Care: Verify patient identification and consent, monitor vitals, administer contrast media, and apply radiation safety protocols (ALARA).
• Documentation & Inventory: Record procedural data, contrast usage, and billing codes in Electronic Medical Records (EMR/PACS) while managing suite inventory.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology (Associate degree preferred).
• Certification: Registered Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R), with advanced vascular or cardiac credentials preferred.
• Life Support: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required..
• Physical Demand: Ability to stand for long periods in protective lead aprons and lift up to 50 pounds.
