Job summary

American Advanced Management is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist to perform specialized diagnostic and therapeutic imaging. You will support physicians in vascular and non-vascular procedures, ensure high-quality imaging, patient safety, and compliance with hospital standards.

The role requires a Radiologic Technology program graduate with at least one year in IR or related imaging, strong knowledge of fluoroscopy, sterile technique, radiation safety, and excellent teamwork.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• One year of experience in Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Cath Lab, or similar interventional imaging.
• Knowledge of interventional radiology procedures and imaging equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures.
• Operate fluoroscopy and interventional imaging equipment per physician instructions.
• Assist physicians during vascular and non-vascular procedures such as angiography, embolization, and biopsies.
• Monitor patients during procedures and report changes to the care team.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection control.
• Practice radiation safety to protect patients, staff, and self.
• Document procedures accurately in patient records and imaging systems.
• Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of interventional radiology equipment.
• Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other providers to support patient care.
• Participate in on-call coverage for urgent procedures.

Position Summary

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist performs specialized diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures. The IR Technologist supports physicians during both vascular and non-vascular procedures, ensuring high-quality imaging, patient safety, and compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.

This position is non-union.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepares and positions patients for interventional radiology procedures, explaining processes to ensure comfort and understanding.
• Operates fluoroscopy and specialized interventional imaging equipment in accordance with physician instructions and hospital protocols.
• Assists physicians during a variety of vascular and non-vascular procedures, including but not limited to:
• Angiography and embolization
• Stent placements
• Biopsies, drainages, and aspirations
• Central line and port placements
• Monitors patients throughout procedures and promptly reports changes in condition to the physician and care team.
• Adheres to sterile technique and infection control protocols.
• Practices radiation safety standards to protect patients, staff, and self.
• Maintains accurate procedure documentation within patient records and imaging systems.
• Ensures proper functioning, cleanliness, and maintenance of interventional radiology equipment; promptly reports malfunctions.
• Collaborates with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare providers to support coordinated patient care.
• Participates in on-call coverage for urgent or emergent interventional procedures.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience:
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
• One (1) year of experience in Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Cath Lab, or a similar interventional imaging specialty required.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of interventional radiology procedures and imaging equipment operation.
• Proficiency in sterile technique and radiation safety practices.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-acuity settings.
• Effective communication, teamwork, and patient care skills.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

• California State Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• California State Fluoroscopy Permit required
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification suggested
