Job summary

45 Fayette County Hospital is seeking a Radiology Technologist for the evening shift (6:00pm – 6:00am, typically 6 days on followed by 7 days off). Pay starts at $26.35 per hour and is based on experience.

You will perform radiographic examinations, including CT and DEXA, maintain equipment, and ensure imaging quality while following ALARA principles. Minimum AS in Radiologic Technology and ARRT in Radiography are required, with certifications completed within specified times.

Qualifications

• AS in Radiologic Technology (mandatory).
• ARRT credential in Radiography (must obtain within one year of hire).
• BLS or CPR certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Knowledge of IEMA standards.
• Must comply with Illinois licensing requirements and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Accurate image identification and documentation in patient records of proper consents, orders, and screening forms.
• Determine the portion of the body to be imaged and position patients appropriately.
• Follow protocol per hospital policy and guidelines.
• Maintain a neat and clean work area.
• Maintain radiology equipment through routine cleaning and checks.
• Perform intravenous injection of contrast media under radiologist guidance.
• Perform radiographic examinations including CT and DEXA with appropriate equipment settings.
• Position patients and body parts for imaging with proper shielding.
• Process images to the PACS system.
• Produce technically excellent images.
• Stay current on creatinine and GFR levels to assess contrast use and consult if needed.
• Apply ALARA principles to minimize exposure to staff and patients.
• Use HIS to access patient data, verify orders, and process studies.

Radiology Technologist

Shift

6:00pm - 6:00am, typically 6 days on followed by 7 days off. Pay based on experience starting at $26.35.

Responsibilities

• Accurate image identification and documentation in patient records of proper consents, orders, and screening forms.
• Determine the portion of the body to be imaged and position patients in the most suitable body position.
• Follow proper policy and protocol for procedures as outlined in protocol guides and hospital policy.
• Keep work area neat and clean.
• Maintain equipment by routine cleaning and operations checks.
• Perform intravenous injection of contrast media products under the guidance of the radiologist.
• Perform radiographic examinations, including CT and DEXA, by setting, adjusting, manipulating, and controlling department‑specific equipment.
• Position patients and various body parts for radiologic exams, using proper collimation and patient shielding.
• Process images to the PACS system.
• Produce technically excellent images.
• Remain current regarding knowledge of creatinine and GFR levels to assist in determining the use of contrast; understand criteria, normal vs. elevated levels, and protocols for abnormal levels, and consult with physician or nurse as appropriate.
• Utilize ALARA principles to reduce radiation exposure to staff and patients.
• Utilize the Hospital Information System (HIS) to obtain patient information, verify orders, complete charges, and process studies.
• Use proper safety techniques to scan patients and provide excellent quality imaging.

Qualifications

• AS: Radiologic Technology (mandatory).
• Must hold an ARRT credential in Radiography (must obtain within one year of hire) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• BLS or CPR certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Knowledge of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) standards.
• Must comply with all state of Illinois licensing requirements and regulations.

Compensation

Estimated compensation range: $26.35 – $40.84 per hour, based on experience.
