Location: Sioux Center, IA

Worker Type: Regular

Work Shift: Primarily days with rotating weekends and holidays (United States of America)

Position Highlights
Summary
  • The Radiology Technologist operates radiologic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians and performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.
General Hours of Work
  • Monday through Friday days with weekend, holiday, and call involvement
Education and/or Experience
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. Graduation from a JRCERT-accredited program in Radiologic Technology is preferred. Bilingual experience is a plus but not required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Iowa Permit of Practice. CPR certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
Essential Functions
  • Perform general radiology exams.
  • If trained or certified in CT, perform CT scans, operate and calibrate CT equipment, set scan parameters, archive images, and perform 3D/multiplanar imaging.
  • If trained or certified in Mammography/DEXA, perform mammography and DEXA scans, adjust lead shielding, and ensure radiation safety.
  • If trained in MRI, perform MRI scans.
  • Identify, interview, and screen patients; educate and position them for exams; use radiation precautions for age-specific patients.
  • Consult with radiologists and physicians regarding exam details and protocols; monitor contrast injections and patient condition.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for X-rays; position and instruct patients; administer contrast media as ordered.
  • Determine appropriate exposure settings; support and immobilize patients; adjust shields; position equipment; activate machines safely.
  • Take X-ray images using portable equipment in various hospital areas; observe sterile techniques and complete procedures promptly.
  • Evaluate images and prepare them for radiologist review; be proficient with PACS/EMR systems.
  • Assist in staff/student training and orientation.
  • Maintain records as required by departments, QA, OSHA, or legal standards.
  • Perform clerical duties and In-House PACS functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
