Job summary

HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital in Port St. Lucie, FL, is seeking a Radiology Tech to operate x-ray equipment and perform radiographic procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist. The role emphasizes accurate imaging and patient comfort.

You will explain procedures, position patients, ensure radiation safety, and mentor new staff while maintaining high standards of care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • ARRT certification required or eligible for certification.
  • Current state licensure or permit to practice medical imaging.
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Customer service abilities and effective listening.
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to stand and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Operates x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body.
  • Performs x-ray procedures under supervision of a Radiologist.
  • Explains procedures to patients and addresses concerns.
  • Positions patients using immobilization devices.
  • Administers contrast materials when required.
  • Operates stationary or portable equipment in ED, OR and bedside.
  • Takes images and develops film.
  • Monitors and documents procedures with computerized systems.
  • Applies age-specific considerations in care.
  • Orientates and mentors new staff members.
  • Practices radiation protection to minimize exposure.
  • Assists with transporting patients and maintains safety.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Radiology Tech position tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operates x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body.
  • Under the supervision of a Radiologist, performs x-ray therapy on patients.
  • Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns.
  • Positions patients utilizing immobilization devices.
  • May administer barium salts or other chemical mixtures.
  • Operates stationary equipment and/or portable equipment used in the Emergency Department, Operating Room and at patient bedside..
  • Takes pictures and develops film.
  • Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.
  • Orients and mentors new staff members.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material.
  • Assists with transporting patients.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Qualifications
  • ARRT Certification
  • Current state licensure or permit to practice medical imaging
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
