UPMC Mercy is seeking a full-time Radiology Technologist to support the Diagnostic Radiology Department in Downtown Pittsburgh.

We are offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus to eligible hires for a 2-year work commitment! Candidates with more than 1 year of experience are eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus for a 2-year work commitment, as well!

UPMC's new Monthly Loan Repayment Program, exclusively for December 2023 or later graduates, offers $9,000 in loan repayment paid over three years!

The Radiology Technologist will work five 8-hour shifts across the entire week, with daylight and evening shifts taking place between Monday and Friday. This position will work every other weekend, with a variety of daylight, evening, and night shifts in the weekend rotation. The Radiology Technologist will have a holiday rotation, but no on-call or travel responsibilities!

The Radiology Technologist performs imaging procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision. This role competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on individual experience and education, at manager discretion.

Responsibilities:

• Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers.
• Communicates instructions clearly to patients, explains procedures to help allay fears, and solicits cooperation.
• Reviews patient history, assesses physician orders, and documents patient history in electronic records.
• Administers PO and rectal contrast per physician orders/department policy.
• Ensures exams are properly coded, tracked, networked, and charges entered.
• Performs diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing established protocols without requiring constant supervision.
• Uses complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, analysis, and documentation, following protocols.
• Interacts with patients and co-workers with care, listening, dignity, and respect.
• Works as a team member within the department and others to expedite patient care efficiently.
• Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from ARRT with scheduled graduation.
• Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision until degree verification.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire.
• ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), required within 30 days of hire.
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
• Act 33 with renewal.
• Act 34 with renewal.
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
