Job summary

Commonwealth Health is seeking Radiographers in Kingston, Luzerne County. Candidates will assist Radiologists, maintain high accuracy in radiographic techniques, and ensure patient care through effective communication and skills.

Applicants must be graduates from accredited Radiation Sciences programs and hold ARRT registration. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in clinical settings. Essential duties include preparing patients for examinations and being sensitive to their needs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred, but newly registered graduates accepted.

Job description

Radiographers must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology. Radiographers must maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique. He or she must maintain knowledge about radiation protection and safety. Radiographers prepare for and assist the Radiologist in the completion of intricate radiographic examinations. They prepare and administer contrast media and medications in accordance with state and federal regulations. Radiographers are the primary liaison between patients and Radiologists and other members of the support team. They must remain sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring and patient care skills. Radiographers use professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing their duties. Quality improvement and customer service allows the Radiographer to be a responsible member of the health care team by continually assessing professional performance. Radiographers embrace continuing education for optimal patient care, public education and enhanced knowledge and technical competence.

Position Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Sciences / registry in Radiologic Technology required.

Contingence of ARRT registration as follows: maintenance of continuing education as directed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.

Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes

Previous experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred, but will accept newly registered graduates from approved radiography program. Clinical experience in all areas of radiology, including routine radiography, fluoroscopy, emergency room procedures, and operating room procedures. Technical expertise, knowledge of anatomy, safety conscious, manual dexterity, clerical accuracy, verbal ability.

Licenses/Certificates:

Must be ARRT registered

BLS required; must be completed by end of orientation period
