Performs routine radiographic, fluoroscopic, and portable examinations in various settings including the diagnostic department of Radiology, nursing units, outpatient areas, and the surgery department.
Job Responsibilities
- Takes radiographs as per physician orders.
- Exhibits versatility within the diagnostic department of Radiology.
- Ensures protection of all patients and employees from unnecessary radiation.
- Possesses knowledge of front desk operations and computer systems, reporting equipment issues to the manager and Clinical Engineers.
- Schedules all exams department-wide, alerting a supervisor when necessary.
- Utilizes the centralized transport program for patient transportation.
- Accesses pertinent information in computer systems regarding patient exams, including ordering, reprinting, or canceling as needed.
- Maintains professional interactions with other departments.
- Effectively coordinates with on-call imaging associates as required.
- Reports all equipment issues to the clinical engineering 24-hour phone line and communicates messages to co-workers, both written and verbal.
- Alerts managers to equipment problems, including during on-call periods, if necessary.
- Remains available for assignment as needed.
- Assists Radiologic Technologist Students.
- Performs duties related to equipment quality assurance, regulatory compliance (ODH, Joint Commission), ordering of supplies, scheduling of staff, and conducting hospital and departmental audits.
- Responsible for accessing patient records in the course of normal operations to conduct the business of medical imaging.
Skills
Required Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation, and sterile techniques/procedures.
- Proficiency in patient positioning and equipment operation (x-ray machines and printers).
Education
Required Education:
- Graduation from an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology school.
Certifications & Licensure
Required:
- ARRT Certification
- BLS (American Heart Association)
