Job summary

The Gavin Goorjian Community Health Center in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a part-time Radiology Technician responsible for inpatient care and diagnostic imaging, including mammograms. You will ensure patient comfort and safety while following QM safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Key duties include performing mammography and dexa scans, maintaining accurate imaging records, coordinating with physicians, and adhering to MQSA and MSQA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • ARRT registered and certified in mammography with at least one year of experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and successful background check.
  • Ability to pass fingerprinting and drug test; knowledge of MQSA/M.S.Q.A standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiology procedures including mammograms and DEXA scans per protocols.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of imaging and patient records.
  • Adhere to MQSA and MSQA regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, radiologists and technologists.
  • Instruct and position patients for imaging tests; operate equipment.
  • Perform QC on equipment and report malfunctions; arrange preventive maintenance.

Job description

The Gavin Goorjian Community Health Center (GJGHC) provides comprehensive, high-quality primary care and wellness services to individuals and families in our community. The Radiology Technician is responsible for inpatient care and diagnostic imaging, performing mammograms under the guidance of the Medical Director. The Radiology Technician ensures patient comfort and safety while following all regulatory, quality, and radiation safety standards.

This is a part-time position, approx. 5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality radiology procedures to include; mammogram and dexa scan procedures in accordance with established protocols
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality at all times
  • Maintain accurate documentation of imaging and patient records
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations, including M.S.Q.A. standards
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, radiologists, and fellow technologists
  • Remain flexible and responsive to scheduling needs and workflow priorities
  • Instruct and assist patients in assuming the physical position for the appropriate test.
  • Conduct or train for the proper operation of all equipment.
  • Maintain radiology equipment and rooms in proper working condition. Performs QC on equipment as established by MQSA. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to management
  • Arrange for preventative maintenance, including calibrations of equipment.
  • Performs other duties and/or special projects assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Commitment to patient privacy and HIPAA compliance
  • Experience working with diverse populations and maintaining a non-judgmental, inclusive environment is required.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, staff, and external partners in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Prioritize tasks, adapt to changing needs, and maintain composure in a fast-paced clinic environment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while recognizing when to elevate issues to leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all healthcare regulations and organizational policies.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative, problem-solving skills, and a patient-centered approach in daily work.
  • Fluent in English, bilingual in Spanish recommended.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking within clinical and imaging environments.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and transfer up to 50 pounds, including assisting patients and moving imaging equipment or supplies.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and stretching to position patients accurately for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate radiology equipment, adjust controls, and perform quality control checks.
  • Ability to assist patients into and out of imaging positions, including providing physical support when needed.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to review images, read monitors, assess equipment indicators, and complete detailed documentation.
  • Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions, patient concerns, equipment alarms, and emergencies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting while maintaining focus, accuracy, and patient safety.
Educational/Licensure Requirements
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • A.R.R.T. registered and certified in mammography with at least one year of experience. (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Advanced mammography training as required by the State of Nevada and M.S.Q.A.
  • ARRT Bone Densitometry (RT(BD)) certification or eligibility
  • Successful completion of an approved program in Ultrasound Technology or a licensed RT(R) who has received on-the-job training and must be ARDMS registered. (Preferred)
  • Ability to pass a background check, fingerprinting, and drug test.
