Cabarrus-Rowan-Community-Health-Center is seeking a PRN Xray Technician and Mammogram Technologist to perform diagnostic radiologic and mammography procedures in the assigned clinic.

Qualifications include an Associate’s degree or higher in radiologic technology, ARRT/CRT certification, NC licensure, and 3+ years in ambulatory radiology. Strong patient communication and EHR skills are required; Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and assist with positioning.
  • Operate radiologic equipment and adjust exposure settings per exam.
  • Perform mammography positioning and image acquisition with safety measures.
  • Develop and process radiologic film.
  • Maintain equipment safety and report malfunctions.
  • Perform administrative duties and document procedures.
  • Retrieve radiologic orders and input data into EMR.
  • Maintain radiologic supplies.
  • Conduct QC testing on mammography equipment weekly.
  • Prepare QC documentation for supervisor review.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Summary of Position

The Xray Technician and mammogram technologist perform x-rays and mammograms for diagnostic purposes. Follows established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety. Proven experience working as an X-ray technician and mammogram technologist.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions in the English language. Communicates effectively verbally and in writing. Interacts in a caring and professional manner with patients, staff, and other internal and external customers. Knowledge of radiologic safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations. Knowledge of radiologic equipment uses and maintenance.
Maintains accurate and thorough EMR records. Spanish language skills desirable.

  • Experience: Three or more years of experience in an ambulatory care setting, including clinical or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additional skills required: Excellent verbal communication skills. Must be able to work with changing priorities. Requires excellent organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Must be able to interact with individuals of various cultures and levels of education. Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to function as part of a team. Must possess initiative. Excellent computer skills.
  • Additional skills preferred: Proficient in use of electronic health records, familiarity with quality improvement in the clinical setting.

Education: Associate's degree or higher in radiologic technology, radiology, or a related field.

Certification(s)/Licensure: AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT). Current NC Radiologic Technologist licensure required.

Physical Requirements:

Continuous walking, standing and moving about.

Frequently bends, kneels, and crouches.

Frequently lifts, pushes, or otherwise moves and positions patients or other objects, exerting up to 50 lbs.

Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing.

Talk and hear.

Possible exposure to hazardous fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, bodily fluids, etc.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare patients for radiologic procedures. Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed. Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety and comfort during scan.

2. Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination. Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.

3. Conducts mammography study by positioning breasts; adjusting compression mechanisms; instructing patient to hold breath; retreating to lead protected area; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors; activating equipment to take image; releasing compression mechanisms; preparing for next positioning and view. Ensuring high quality mammographic exams to aid in medical diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease

4. Develop and process radiologic film.

5. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and team members.

6. Ensure radiologic equipment remains in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to Assistant Chief Medical Officer or supervisor.

7. Perform related administrative duties including completing necessary forms, labeling films and film envelopes and maintaining procedure logs.

8. Retrieve radiologic orders from and input related data into the electronic medical record.

9. Maintain adequate radiologic supplies.

10. Performs quality control (QC) testing on the mammogram equipment weekly and maintains documentation for quality assurance.

11. Prepares and modifies all QC documentation forms for review by the Assistant Chief Medical Officer.

12. Perform all other duties as assigned.
