Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic imaging procedures with professional autonomy. The role includes patient education, image quality review, and safe administration of contrast media as ordered.

You will operate imaging equipment, ensure safety standards, and report results in accordance with HIPAA and company policies. Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree in radiology or equivalent, with prior radiology experience preferred.

  • Prior radiology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedures, analyzes results and reports image quality issues.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding.
  • Performs contrast media administration when ordered and monitors patient condition.
  • Prepares equipment and selects exposure factors; ensures safety and QC on equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General Overview

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
  • Reviews patient history and physician’s orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient’s understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Preferred
  • Prior radiology experience.
