Job summary

BMCHS in Brockton seeks a part-time Radiology Tech Aide to support radiologists, technologists and nurses in patient care and exam procedures. You will maintain supplies, prepare rooms, assist patients during exams including portable X-ray procedures, and handle light reception and clerical duties. Duties may be performed at E.

Newton or Harrison Avenue Campuses. Requires a high school diploma and basic patient care knowledge; on-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school level proficiency in reading and writing (in English) and arithmetic.
• Knowledge of room preparation for X-ray procedures and sterilization duties.
• Interpersonal and communications skills to support patients.
• Preference for medical terminology and basic patient care courses.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, assists the radiologists, technologists and nurses in technical and patient care duties. Maintains supplies and keeps exam rooms prepared and ready for patients. Assists patients during exam procedures including portable exam procedures. Handles reception and clerical duties as required. Duties may also be required in other areas as necessary at either the E. Newton or Harrison Avenue Campuses.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Requires a high school level of knowledge in reading and writing (in English) and arithmetic in order to understand written and oral instructions, prepare barium mixtures and deal effectively with people.

Requires knowledge of work routines, procedures, materials and equipment in order to prepare rooms for x-ray procedures, perform sterilization duties and stock rooms with supplies. Such knowledge is normally acquired during one to three months of on-the-job training.

Requires minimal analytical ability.

Requires interpersonal skills and communications skills in order to provide information, reassurance and support to patients in somewhat difficult situations.

Preference given to those individuals who have successfully completed medical terminology and basic patient care courses.

Compensation Range:

$16.29- $24.21
