Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Radiography unit assistant in the Cleveland imaging department to support MRI and other modalities under supervision of a radiology technologist. The role is sign-on bonus eligible and pays $21.00 per hour.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a medical imaging credential, and BLS certification. Clinical imaging experience is preferred and duties include patient prep, basic x-rays, and administrative support.

Qualifications

• Senior enrolled Radiography program student preferred.
• Clinical experience in medical imaging preferred.
• BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic diagnostic x-rays supervised by a radiology technologist.
• Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures.
• Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist.
• Obtains medications, radiopharmaeceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse.
• Assists physicians and technologists in the performance of diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits (Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound) to include procedures requiring the administration of contrast media.
• Retrieves patient orders and requisitions while supporting administrative or miscellaneous work tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams.
• Assists patients to restrooms, with bedpans, urinals and other ancillary clinical support needs as required.
• Assists with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
