In this role, you will be responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation to patients of all ages for diagnostic and research purposes, providing patient services, and performing radiographic procedures using radiographic modalities. You will also support pre-analytical and post-analytical functions within Essentia Health Laboratories, promoting patient safety during specimen collection and processing.

Education Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent, willingness to complete Essentia’s internal Medical Laboratory Assistant training within 1 year of hire, and a passion for helping others with a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general x-ray exams in outpatient and inpatient settings, supervised and unsupervised
• Administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic imaging, ensuring techniques are age-appropriate
• Evaluate competency for performing exams on small children and babies, with assessments documented by a manager or QA Tech
• Transfer patients safely to and from wheelchairs or carts, following safety protocols
• Complete exams in EPIC/PACS, maintain exam rooms, and support department workflow
• Communicate effectively with staff and other departments
• Collect specimens via venipuncture or capillary skin puncture, and handle other specimens (urine, swabs, etc.)
• Perform specimen processing and laboratory testing according to accreditation standards
• Participate in training new employees and students
• Follow safety and quality policies for handling specimens and equipment

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Licensure Requirements:

• For Minnesota: Complete Basic Radiographic Operator training and pass the MN Radiology Exam within 3 months
• For North Dakota: Hold a current LXMO license upon hire
• State-specific x-ray certification (MN or ND) depending on location
• Duluth Neighborhood Clinics: Valid MN Driver’s License
