Howard University Hospital seeks a Nurse Coordinator to join varied departments in Washington, DC. The role includes direct patient care as needed, coordinating care with Medical Assistants and Nurse Managers, and serving as charge nurse on shifts.

Qualifications include a BSN, a DC nursing license, BLS certification, and 3 years of nursing experience in the relevant clinical area. The position offers health benefits and opportunities under the DCNA contract.

Qualificações

• BSN required.
• Three (3) years progressive nursing experience in the clinical specialty to which assigned.
• Current license to practice Nursing in the District of Columbia.
• Certification in one clinical area related to area of practice.
• Current BLS certificate.

Responsabilidades

• Assumes direct patient care responsibilities where required to ensure adequate care levels.
• Coordinates patient care with support of Medical Assistants and Nurse Managers; serves as charge nurse for the shift.
• Serves as a resource person for unit staff and assists staff in identifying patient care needs and solutions.
• Precepts at least six months of the year to nurse externs, interns, orientees, student nurses if needed.
• Educates and counsels patients regarding pertinent information for their medical condition.
• May prepare educational materials for patient use.
• Ensures testing and scheduling are completed prior to procedures.
• Manages time and attendance information in the Kronos system and reports to the Nurse Manager.
• Other duties related to the position and area.

Formação académica

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)

Current license to practice Nursing in the District of Columbia

Current BLS certificate

Certification in one clinical area related to area of practice
