Job summary

Mercyhealth in Wisconsin seeks a Multi-Modality Technologist 1, starting in Radiography with CT credential within one year. The role requires night shifts (6pm–6am) and flexibility to switch modalities as needed.

The technologist will maintain active modality status, support department leadership, mentor students, and follow safety and universal protocol. CT credential to be obtained within two years of hire.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • ARRT registered in Radiography; CT credential within two years of hire.
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required for Wisconsin.
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois.

OVERVIEWThe Multi-Modality Technologist 1 will be competent and credentialed initially in Radiography with the credential in CT obtained within one year of hire. The incumbent will be able and willing to flex between them as needed.SCHEDULE: One 8-hour Shift & Two, 12-Hour ShiftsSHIFT: Nights, 6pm-6amESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintains active status in the modalities in which they practice.Assists the department coordinator by providing clinical leadership, completes projects, advanced level clinical duties and regular assignments as requested.Is competent in all exams performed within the assigned modalities.Corroborates patient clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist.Prepares the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort; immobilizes patient as necessary.Practices aseptic technique as necessary,Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed; starts and maintains intravenous access.Initiates basic life support action when necessary.Provides patient education.Provides input for supply and equipment decisions, maintains control of inventory and supplies for assigned area.Provides practical instruction for students and partners.Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.Other duties, tasks as assigned.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited radiography programTwo to four years of experience as a technologist as a Radiographer is required. Experience in a hospital environment preferredCERTIFICATION/LICENSUREARRT registered in Radiography required; the CT credential is required within two years of hireIEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in IllinoisWI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in WisconsinBLS/CPR required within 90 days of hireOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESExperience in working with radiologic technologists, radiologists and support staff in a multimodality departmentProficiency in mentoring employees and providing corrective action appropriatelyExperience in obtaining departmental accreditationAbility to communicate in a friendly and effective mannerDemonstrated ability to foster excellent teamwork in a radiology departmentStrong organizational skills with ability to work independentlyRead/comprehend written and verbal instructionsBasic PC skillsManage stress appropriatelyMake decisions under pressure and handle multiple prioritiesManage anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriatelyLEVEL OF SUPERVISIONWorks independently, with limited direct supervision.SUPERVISESN/APAY RANGE:$35.85 - $53.77Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
