Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic, portable, and fluoroscopic imaging across hospital settings. The role requires adjusting techniques, maintaining ALARA practices, and supporting patient safety from registration to post-procedure documentation.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT Radiography registration required.
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required for Illinois work.
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required for Wisconsin work.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, and c-arm imaging procedures.
  • Reviews patient history to ensure appropriate orders and labs are within range; consults radiologist as needed.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate the area of interest.
  • Initiates basic life support when necessary.
  • Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors.
  • Follows ALARA principles for safe imaging.
  • Applies radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient and staff.
  • Reports and documents XR safety incidents per protocol.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Uses RIS/PACS and submits images/data for physician review.
  • Assists with medical record/image sharing as needed.
  • Documents XR/FL procedure details in EMR, including medications reconciliation.
  • Provides instruction for radiography students and partners.
  • Maintains patient safety during procedures and patient transport.
  • Operates mobile radiographic equipment in OR/ER or at bedside.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and specialized x-ray exams.
  • Prepares contrast media and assists in administration.

Job description

OVERVIEWPerforms radiographic procedures and related techniques.
