Job summary

Origin Travel Nurses is seeking an MRI Technician in Morristown, NJ. You will position patients for MRI, select coils, and communicate with patients using a microphone while entering patient data and scan specifications into the imaging system.

The role requires 1–3 years of MRI experience, NJ RT license and MRI certification, and BLS. Proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel and strong communication are essential for safe, accurate imaging.

Job description

This position requires availability Wednesday to Friday from 11am to 9pm and Saturdays from 7am to 5pm. No call is required.

Job Description

The MRI Technician is responsible for positioning patients on the examining table and selecting appropriate coils (such as head or knee coils) in accordance with the protocols established by the Radiologist. The technician will demonstrate the use of a microphone for communication between the patient and the technologist during examinations and will enter essential data into the imaging system, ensuring accurate patient history and scanning specifications.

Responsibilities

• Position patients correctly for MRI scans and ensure safety protocols are adhered to.
• Utilize a microphone for effective communication with patients during procedures.
• Input patient data and scanning parameters into the MRI system.
• Monitor patients' comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.
• Review image quality on video display screens and photograph scan images as needed.
• Alert incoming personnel about safety hazards associated with the MRI magnet.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1-3 years of experience as an MRI Technician.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Program.
• Current NJ State RT License and MRI Certification.
• BLS Certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to read and interpret documents.
