Role Description

The Radiology Manager is responsible for the daily operations, supervision, and coordination of the Imaging Department at St Vincent Health while also functioning in a direct patient care capacity as needed. This working manager position provides leadership and operational oversight for diagnostic imaging services, ensuring the delivery of safe, accurate, timely, and high-quality imaging procedures for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and rural healthcare populations. The Radiology Manager oversees department workflow, staffing, scheduling, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, equipment maintenance, and budgetary responsibilities while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, accreditation, and radiation safety standards. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Radiology Manager performs imaging procedures within their licensed scope of practice. He assists with departmental coverage, including on-call and after-hours services as necessary to support operational needs. This position collaborates closely with providers, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and administration to improve patient access, enhance service line growth, and promote efficient departmental operations. The Radiology Manager is responsible for staff development, training, performance management, and fostering a positive team-oriented environment focused on patient-centered care, safety, and operational excellence. The role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, communication skills, and the ability to adapt to the broad responsibilities and changing demands commonly associated with a Critical Access Hospital environment.

Performs duties involving personnel management, scheduling, and supply inventory.

  • Delegates duties and assignments appropriately to allow time for other job responsibilities.
  • Reviews and finalizes staff time and attendance records.
  • Monitors used sick time and overtime on an ongoing basis and takes appropriate action to ensure efficient and effective departmental function.
  • Reviews all time-off requests and approves after confirming that the hospital's needs will be met.
  • Seeks input, identifies problems interfering with cost-effectiveness and staff development, and actively works toward solutions.
  • Evaluates employees in the Imaging Department.
  • Maintains employees' respect and creates a spirit of cooperation and willingness among department personnel.
  • Assists in all departmental sections as needed.
  • Supervises and instructs personnel on the release of information, department and Hospital policies, and practices.
  • Performs or delegates Radiology Safety Officer Roles and responsibilities.
  • Performs Radiology Technologist functions.
  • Participates in departmental and intradepartmental meetings.
  • Maintains effective communication with personnel and medical staff through regular conferences and meetings.
  • Applies information learned during informative learning sessions and effectively teaches other pertinent information.
  • Maintains accountability for the operation of the Imaging Department in accordance with standards, statistical compilation, and quality assurance studies.
  • Compiles reports, surveys, and other paperwork as requested and required.
  • Delegates responsibilities to appropriate parties and provides follow-up for delegated tasks.
  • Works to attain maximum efficient performance from department by conferencing, advising, and making suggestions.
  • Works with Quality Improvement Staff in the formulation of the Imaging Department Quality Improvement Plan and the means by which the Plan is carried out.
  • Maintains accountability for complying with state and federal requirements and fulfilling recommendations.
  • Generates and provides metrics for the department to the Quality Management Team monthly.
  • Promotes own professional growth and demonstrates professional conduct regarding Imaging Department operations.
  • Remains current with industry changes and information.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved school of radiologic technology.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the same or similar positions.
  • Current Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
  • Sub-specialty in CT required
  • Sub-specialty qualifications may be required for Mammography
  • Knowledge and abilities specific to the specialty.
  • Demonstrate initiative to stay current with technological changes affecting the imaging field.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
