Description:The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following established requirements.This position assists with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other guided procedures.Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in a professional manner.Conducts mammographic imaging for breast needle localization procedures and stereotactic procedures, including setup and cleanup.Handles procedures using ultrasound guidance.Provides immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operates equipment for specific procedures.Ensures patient films are correctly identified with the patient's name, x-ray number, marking film side and initials.Develops exposed x-ray film using processing methods.Completes patient requisitions with technologist’s initials, date number, and size of films.Assists with quality control procedures and documenting various tests and analyses as delegated by the Chief Mammography Technologist.Contributes to patient education, including pre- and post-procedure instructions.Prepares cases for imaging, including chart and films.Assists in compiling statistics regarding follow-ups, tracking of localizations, and necessary biopsies.Documents procedures related to quality control and quality assurance in compliance with established standards.Notes pertinent information regarding patients in the Breast Center chart.Identifies and modifies care specific to patient needs, including age, culture, language, and sensory impairments.Communicates effectively with patients, parents, and primary caregivers at their level.Performs other duties and projects as assigned.Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
