Job summary

St. Marys Medical Center in West Palm Beach, part of Tenet Healthcare, seeks a Radiology Extern for a temporary per diem role. You will support radiology staff by preparing rooms, assisting with patient transfers, and ensuring patient comfort during imaging procedures.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and enrollment in a Radiology program, with BLS/CPR certification preferred. Prior healthcare experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean and set up radiology equipment and supply areas.
• Assist technologists and other healthcare workers to provide patient care.
• Organize work assignments and perform imaging room setup.
• Verify patient identity and explain procedures to patients.
• Assist with patient transfers from/to beds and wheelchairs.
• Maintain supplies room and prepare exam rooms.
• Position patients correctly on exam equipment.
• Ensure patient comfort and communicate needs between Nursing and departments.
• Document transportation needs (IV pumps, O2 tanks, etc.) as required.

This is a Temporary Position. A Radiology Extern is responsible and accountable for cleaning and setting up equipment and assisting technologists and other healthcare workers in order to provide quality patient care and services. Organize work assignments, conduct-\-imaging room set up, patient verification, explain procedures to patients; help in patient transfers from and to beds, and wheelchairs. Maintain the supplies room, set up exam rooms, and accurately position patients on applicable equipment for exams. Ensure patient comfort; engage patients and coworkers in ethical conduct, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Radiology Extern is responsible for bringing patients to and from various facility departments. The Radiology Extern must make a positive identification of the patient, verify with nursing the mode of transport and any special needs (IV pumps, O2 tank, etc) that may be required for care in transit or for the procedural requested. He/She is a communication link between Nursing and the various departments. While the patient is in transit, they are responsible for communicating any continued care needs of the patient to Nursing or the Specialty area.
