Job Description
The Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist independently performs imaging procedures utilizing established scan protocols to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position requires strong technical skills, the ability to make independent judgments, and a commitment to patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform computed tomography procedures and adjust protocols as necessary.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, reconstruction, and documentation.
- Administer oral, rectal, and IV contrast media as per physician orders and departmental policies.
- Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and use of power injectors.
- Interact with patients and co-workers with a high level of care, dignity, and respect.
- Communicate instructions clearly to patients to alleviate concerns and solicit cooperation.
- Properly identify patients using two patient identifiers and adhere to universal protocol.
- Review patient history and assess physician orders for optimal data acquisition.
- Document patient history accurately in the electronic record as required.
- Ensure accurate coding, tracking, and billing for all exams performed.
- Participate as a team member to enhance patient care efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
- CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of initial registration or date of hire if primary registry is obtained.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
- ARRT Certificate and Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Compliance with PA Act 31, 33, 34, and 73 required if applicable.
