Radiological Technologist | St. Rita's Medical Center

Position Summary

The Radiological Technologist is a certified health professional responsible for applying diagnostic imaging techniques using ionizing radiation, under the supervision of an authorized user, to produce diagnostic images.

Essential Job Functions
  • Obtain patient’s clinical history and lab work, ensuring documentation for licensed practitioners.
  • Position and immobilize patients to best demonstrate the anatomical area, respecting patient comfort.
  • Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure.
  • Perform radiographic procedures using imaging equipment and accessories.
  • Verify informed consent and complete necessary documentation pre- and post-procedure.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures, applying aseptic techniques as needed.
  • Perform timeout procedures as per policy.
  • Prepare and/or administer medications/contrast as prescribed.
  • Relay and document orders in the patient’s medical record.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and document patient dose exposures.
  • Interact professionally with physicians, staff, patients, and families.
  • Operate radiographic equipment in accordance with ALARA principles.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred).
  • Certification and registration with ARRT (required).
  • State licensure (preferred, unless required by law).
  • BLS certification (required at hire for some locations; others may require prior to independent patient care).
Training & Experience
  • Experience with EPIC EHR and PACS systems (preferred).
  • At least 1 year of experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred).
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

May involve high stress, exposure to hazardous substances, physical exertion, and travel. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, walking, and other movements as detailed.

Patient Population

Neonates to Geriatrics, including pediatric and adult patients.
