Job summary

UT-Battelle's Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a motivated Radiological Control Technician to support radiological protection programs across multiple mission areas, including isotope research, nuclear facilities operations, and lab modernization. You will contribute to safety, training, and mission success within ORNL's Radiological Protection Operations Group.

Qualified candidates typically hold an AS/AA degree (or HS diploma with related experience) and may pursue NRRP/DOE certifications.

Qualifications

• AS/AA degree with 2 years radiological protection experience or HS diploma with 4 years related experience.
• Currently qualified as a DOE Senior Radiological Control Technician.
• NRRPT registration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine radiation detection instrument performance tests.
• Radiation and contamination monitoring.
• Collection of air samples.
• Posting and labeling of radioactive materials.
• Access control into radiological areas.
• Radioactive waste surveys.
• Radiological job coverage during higher hazard radiological work.
• Mentoring of radiological workers.
• Obtain qualification and be able to work shift relief as needed.
