Job summary

UT-Battelle is seeking motivated Radiological Control Technicians to support ORNL's advanced nuclear and radiological missions in Oak Ridge, TN. You will protect workers and the public by performing tests, monitoring radiation, sampling air, and controlling access to radiological areas across multiple mission areas.

The role requires an AS/AA with extensive radiological protection experience, DOE NRPT/NRRPT qualifications, and the ability to work in a fast-paced research environment.

Qualifications

• AS/AA degree with 7 years of radiological protection experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (HS diploma and 9 years of related experience).
• DOE Senior Radiological Control Technician qualification is preferred.
• Active NRRP T certification (NRRPT) is highly desirable, with broad experience in DOE National Laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine radiation detection instrument performance tests.
• Radiation and contamination monitoring.
• Collection of air samples.
• Posting and labeling of radioactive materials.
• Access control into radiological areas.
• Radioactive waste surveys.
• Radiological job coverage during higher hazard radiological work.
• Mentoring of radiological workers.
• Obtain qualification and be able to work shift relief as needed.
