Job summary

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) seeks a skilled Emergency Management Specialist (Preparedness) to coordinate radiological drills, review preparedness documents, and ensure compliance with federal guidance. You will engage with federal, state, local, tribal, and private sector partners to enhance incident response and recovery operations.

The role requires interpreting regulations, organizing exercises, and driving continuous improvement in site preparedness.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating drills and exercises.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations related to radiological emergency response.
  • Ability to interpret laws, regulations and policies and apply them to FEMA operations.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and facilitate drills to test radiological emergency response capabilities at designated sites.
  • Evaluate site emergency plans for compliance with federal guidelines and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with Federal, State, local, tribal, and private sector partners to ensure effective communication during radiological incidents.
  • Provide guidance to site personnel on preparedness, response protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor corrective actions from exercises or real events to ensure continuous improvement.
