Job summary

Mercyhealth Wisconsin and Illinois is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic procedures and administer x-radiation for physician interpretation. This role requires a graduate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and includes responsibilities such as patient education and operating imaging equipment.

  • ARRT Radiography registration required.
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois.
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.

Job description

OVERVIEW

Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques. Administers x‑radiation to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.

SCHEDULE

Weekends, Friday–Sunday.

SHIFT

Nights, 12 hour shifts.

LOCATION

Javon Bea Hospital at Riverside.

PAY RANGE

$27.17–$40.75.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, C‑arm procedures.
  • Reviews patient's clinical history to ensure appropriate orders and labs are within range as needed, reviewing with radiologist as necessary.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices and accessories to perform procedures.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Initiates basic life support when necessary.
  • Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors.
  • Follows ALARA principles through accurate exposure factors and radiographic techniques.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Reports and documents XR safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.
  • Assists with medical record/image sharing as necessary.
  • Documents all information pertinent to XR/FL procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation.
  • Provides practical instruction for radiography students and partners.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special X‑ray examinations.
  • Prepares contrast media and assists in administration.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.

One (1) to Three (3) years experience preferred.

Will consider new graduates.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
  • ARRT Radiography registration required.
  • IEMA‑DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois.
  • WI‑DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.

Works independently with limited direct supervision.

Provides clinical supervision of allied health students and radiology aides.
