Qualifications

• Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
• Must possess current Radiography License as required by the state board where services will be provided.
• WV Radiography License through West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board
• Must be nationally certified as defined by location where services will be provided.
• ARRT certification upon hire (MD/OH/WV) or within 6 months (PA).
• Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable) checks as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Rotates in all Diagnostic areas for development of technical skills.
• Performs image procedures based on assessment of the patient and imaging protocols.
• Produces images of high quality using imaging equipment and systems.
• Selects exposure factors to optimize image quality while minimizing radiation.
• Minimizes radiation exposure to self, patients and staff.
• Maintains knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology relative to imaging.
• Assesses patient needs and provides imaging-related comfort.
• Prepares contrast agents and sterile trays per guidelines.
• Educates patients regarding radiographic procedures.
• Promotes teamwork with radiology staff.
• Engages in problem solving and performance improvements.
• Adheres to ARRT Ethics and WVUH policies.
• Reports equipment failures promptly.
• Completes in-services and competencies by required dates.
• Disposes patients as per protocols.
• Coordinates daily workflow.
• Assists in supervising radiology students.
• Ensures complete imaging process components.
