Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Radiologic Technologist to maintain patient safety and produce high-quality diagnostic images. You will apply professional judgment, review images, and assist with contrast administration and patient care in a busy imaging department.

The role requires ARRT Radiography certification and IEMA accreditation, plus BLS. You will operate imaging equipment, document accurately, and uphold safety standards while ensuring a positive patient experience for all patients.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program.
  • ARRT Radiography (R) certification.
  • Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Accreditation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accountability for patient safety throughout the imaging process.
  • Produces diagnostic-quality images using approved protocols and professional standards.
  • Apply professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality.
  • Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when needed.
  • Administers contrast per policy with screening for contraindications.
  • Operates imaging equipment and maintains imaging room readiness.
  • Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.
  • Maintains accurate documentation in medical records and image archive systems.
  • Upholds organizational values, ethics, and compliance.
  • Adheres to radiation, MRI, and infection prevention safety standards.
  • Ensures a positive patient experience during care delivery.
  • Supports department initiatives to improve relationships, reliability, efficiency, and growth.

Description

The Radiologic Technologist Hospital reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.


Responsibilities:


  • Maintains accountability for patient safety throughout the imaging process, including screening, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.

  • Produces diagnostic-quality images using approved protocols and professional standards.

  • Apply professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality and address imaging challenges.

  • Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when diagnostic adequacy is not met.

  • Administers contrast in accordance with policy, including screening for contraindications and patient monitoring (as applicable).

  • Operates imaging equipment and maintains imaging room readiness.

  • Identifies equipment performance issues and initiates follow-up through established service processes.

  • Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in medical record and image archive system, including exam set-up, image routing, result availability and charging accuracy.

  • Adheres to organizational values, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.

  • Consistently upholds all applicable quality and safety standards within diagnostic imaging, such as radiation safety, MRI safety, Infection prevention measures safe practices (as applicable to the role) to protect self, patients, visitors and team members

  • Ensures a positive patient experience throughout care delivery

  • Supports department initiatives to improve relationships, reliability, efficiency, growth

  • Supports additional responsibilities aligned with patient care and department needs


Qualifications

Required:


  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Radiography (R)

  • Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Accreditation

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
