Overview

The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver responsible for patient care within the Heart & Vascular Institute. The role involves assisting with invasive cardiology or radiology procedures, supporting physicians, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• License/Certifications: Registered in Radiography (R) - ARRT; Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - IEMA; BLS - AHA; ACLS - AHA (within 1 year)
• Education: Associate's Degree or Certificate of Completion
• Skills: Knowledge of vascular access, contrast administration, sterile procedures, inventory management, patient assessment, and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Administer contrast material as per physician request, monitor for allergic reactions.
• Assist with inventory and supplies.
• Verify patient identity and prepare for procedures.
• Document clinical information accurately.
• Explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and confidentiality.
• Perform all essential radiologic technologist duties.
• Work variable shifts and on-call as needed.
• Maintain sterile fields during procedures.
• Administer or withhold contrast and treatments appropriately.
• Assess patients for allergies.
• Pull supplies for procedures.
• Perform cardiac catheterization procedures, structural heart interventions, and hybrid peripheral vascular work, utilizing adjunctive tools as needed.
