General Summary of Position
Join our MedStar Health Urgent Care team as a Radiology Technologist! In this role, you will perform clinical and administrative duties within MedStar Health settings, following policies and procedures. You will work under the supervision of a physician, performing patient intake, standing orders or protocols, venipuncture, laboratory testing, and patient follow-up. Additionally, you may administer medications (oral, IM, SC, intradermal) when ordered by a provider, upon demonstrating competency to the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or designee. Certified Clinical Care Specialists (CCSs) as Radiologic Technologists will also perform and transmit X-ray diagnostic images. All documentation will be appropriately recorded in the medical record, supporting optimal patient flow.

Adhere to MedStar Health's Code of Conduct and Compliance plan; comply with governmental and accreditation guidelines. Complete scheduled training including safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, EMR, general compliance, harassment, and service. Maintain equipment and prepare patient rooms. Deliver patient care with a focus on safety and quality.
Embrace new technology and utilize electronic health records effectively. Manage patient flow with clear communication, perform tests such as spirometry/PFTs, measure vitals and BMI, perform EKGs, vision and hearing tests, splinting, and general patient care under a provider’s supervision. Conduct follow-up calls for lab tests, patient experience, and clinical results as per policy.
Perform venipuncture and point-of-care laboratory testing. Initiate care pathways according to policy. Take X-rays based on provider orders, forward images to radiologists for overreads, and maintain X-ray equipment adhering to safety standards. Foster a respectful environment and communicate professionally with patients, families, vendors, and colleagues.
Provide care aligned with MedStar's mission, vision, and values, aiming to exceed patient expectations. Serve as a patient escort, assist in discharge, and support new clinical and service initiatives to improve care and patient experience.
Support team members during downtime or patient processing bottlenecks. Participate in basic computer and patient intake tasks at the front desk. Assist medical providers during examinations, testing, and education. Under supervision, prepare and administer oral medications and injections (intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular) after demonstrating competency.
This position offers a hiring range of $29.15 - $51.68.
